Here Goes...
I’ve had the idea of starting this blog for around two years now.
Everyone seems to blog quite frankly. Why on earth would someone pick mine to read over the other 26 million mummy blogs out there?
But I’ve decided I’m going to start it anyway and see where it takes us.
I’m Alice, (hi). I’m 31 and a single mother of one small, gorgeous three-year-old girl called Niamh. We live in the middle of pretty much nowhere on a farm. It’s as idyllic and wonderful as it sounds (if the countryside is your thing).
We sound like the classic duo… single mum, gorgeous daughter, living our best life and now blogging to show you all how you don’t need a man and how life is amazing (kind of true by the way).
Here comes the curve ball. My daughter is “disabled.” It’s a rare genetic disease. N can’t talk, walk, or use her hands (that’s the short version).
Before everyone switches off, this is not a blog of sadness, heartbreak and attention seeking. I’m doing this for an entirely different reason (keep reading to find out what).
Quite honestly we are absolutely nailing it on the life front. Niamh’s disease is unfixable and nothing changes that and the doctors don’t know enough to help me anyway.
So instead I’ve gone down an entirely different route AND IT’S ACTUALLY HAVING POSITIVE EFFECTS.
The things I do with N are actually having a profound effect on her symptoms and life.
This is what I want to write about. What we do. How we do it. What life is like for N and me. I’ve figured that if just one person who reads our blog goes away and tries something new and it helps them or someone close to them have a better quality of life then why wouldn’t I share this stuff?
Anyway, enough waffling.
Follow our story to find out how we live our life.
